Time to Set Sail

Vintage pocket watch and clock parts, sea glass, copper, leather and driftwood.

This piece is a commission from a lovely client, who wanted something special for her son who is studying to be a master mariner. The hull of the ship is made from a copper nail which was embedded in a piece of driftwood found on the shore of Churchill Island. The driftwood appeared to be from a very old wrecked boat, which the nail confirms. This wood was used to make the stand. The ocean is made from sea glass found on Victoria’s Surf Coast beach. The sails and the anchor on the stand are cut from a vintage clock frame.
