My Scottish friend and coworker, Karen, wanted a special gift for her friend in England. It had to be Australian themed and unique, and she gave me the honour of creating it for her. I came up with the iconic image of a kangaroo with a joey in its pouch and went to work. Once completed, it needed to be mounted and this piece of red gum garden sleeper, having served in the garden for years polished up beautifully. I wanted the colors to represent an Outback landscape and I feel it does that perfectly.

Now the piece has been gifted, a piece of Australia has moved to England via a Scottish lass, so it’s truly international!
